I'm an oil painter, currently residing in Hagerstown, Maryland.

My paintings can be seen in homes and spaces internationally, and also in my online shop, here.
As of March 2013, I am represented by Gregg Irby Fine Art, a boutique art gallery in Atlanta, Georgia.

My work is about remembering - exploring our histories preserved as subtle, evolving memories that manifest as a flash of light, a shadow, a smile, juxtaposed against the fragmented, frozen world of photographs- abstracted moments that construct a concrete visual history of one’s past.

I am most recently exploring a more universal approach to memory through landscape and abstraction. Continuing my thread of distortion and blurring, I depend on layers of paint and wax to convolute my images- a collage of invention and personal experience, creating a dialogue between the fog across an open field and the haziness of my own memory.

Over the past few years, this blog has most certainly evolved, taking many different shapes. Today, it's come full circle as I use it for a place to share my work, inspiration, and deepest passions.

The name, Amaryllis Truth, for my studio and blog, was inspired by two very special people in my life:
Amaryllis Truth

Mary, my dear mom, who has always been so incredibly supportive and encouraging, even after I told her I wanted to major in Art :)

And a beautiful little girl named Ruth.  I met Ruth and her little brother, Bless, in Ghana during the summer of 2010, when my best friend and I spent a month volunteering in an orphanage.  She stole my heart like I never expected, and while I may never get the chance to see her again, this blog is my little tribute to her.

Thank you all so much for coming along for the ride.  I truly appreciate every follower and comment, so feel free to leave a little piece of you behind.
