I've been going through bit of a branding identity crisis... ready for a change, but unsure of quite where to go.  Sort of like I have a very specific idea in mind... but I won't exactly know what it is until I see it.  (which is NOT a very productive method, and why I would make a terrible graphic designer).

I seem to be dealing with this anxiety with a severe addiction to downloading free typefaces.  Seriously, I can't help myself.

Here are five of my latest crushes...

These days I'm totally into the clean, simple lines with a slight edge.  Can you tell?
Stay tuned for the debut of a blog design and brand identity within the next few weeks!! (if I can ever make up my mind ;)

I've been playing around with the idea of selling prints of my work for a while now... providing a more affordable opportunity to own my work.  And I'm not saying that I never will make prints of my work, but for now, I've decided on a better (I think) solution... small gouache paintings on paper! This way they will be more accessible and cost less than $100, but for your own original piece of art instead of a copy.

Gouache is a fancy word for a water-based paint that lives somewhere between acrylic and watercolor (more opaque compared to watercolor), and my favorite medium to sketch with.  I haven't worked with it in a year or two since my color theory class in college, and I've forgotten how much I love it.  Now I can hardly stop using it!  Don't get me wrong, oil painting is my passion, but there is something so nice about being able to paint with just some water and a paper towel, and have it dry in minutes instead of days :)

I will be listing these small paintings in my shop within the next few weeks once I have a few more finished.  But in the meantime, here is a sneak peek!  They are 5 x 7 in, and 8 x 8 in. on archival 9 x 12 in. watercolor paper, and would look lovely framed!  I can't wait to frame a few for my own in-progress gallery wall :)

if interested in any of the paintings above, e-mail me amaryllistruth [at] gmail.com

happy thursday, friends!

what do I do when I need a kick in the butt and we are freshly out of coffee?
- hop on pinterest, and get lost in dreamy editorials.

Fashion photography is one medium I am constantly in awe of: the mood, light, and colors- all that I strive to recreate in my work. these images have been my favorite source for color palettes lately, especially as the season changes and my work begins to evolve from the cool grays of winter, to the warm blues and yellows of summer.

I have a bit of a crush on the graphic designers Cassie Pyle and Breanna Rose, and most of these inspiration images came from their pinterest boards and/or blogs.  Check 'em out, they are ridiculously talented ladies, and never fail to provide just the type of artistic motivation I need for the day.

where do you go for inspiration?

p.s. Check out a great post about me and my work on High Market Street, thank you Kelly!

one benefit of having my car stuck in the shop (with a ri-dunk-ulous bill to fit) is that I am stranded left on the farm, with really nothing else to do but paint.  Today I was able to finish this large canvas that I've been working on for a few weeks.  for a better close up, click here to see it in my shop.

getting a little braver with color, definitely inspired by the season. and realizing, that perhaps not everything, must be gray ;)
